Modern day navigational aids such as google maps and GPS devices have augmented a cartesian way of thinking about and moving through space. For the visitor to Detroit, often times home is point A and downtown Detroit point B. Everything in between becomes merely a line on a map. A line which neglects the existence of people, community, culture, and history.
This project proposes an alternative way of navigating the city.
Neighborhoods are given a voice and chance to (re)-present themselves as their stories are embedded textually into the ground and non-textually told through chambers confronting (engaging) both the traveler and resident.- keywords: none
